  In order to accurately diagnose many skin conditions, it's necessary to take a sample or biopsy to be 100% certain of the exact condition and develop an effective treatment plan. When you send a skin or nail biopsy to NDI, you have the assurance that your specimen will be diagnosed by an experienced, board-certified dermatopathologist.

  At NDI, we offer comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, including:

  NDI accepts all major insurances. If there is an insurance we encounter that requires an application process, rest assured that we will contact that insurance company immediately. As always, if you have a question on any insurances we accept, please contact our friendly office staff for clarification.
• Fast Turnaround Time
  97% of our diagnoses are provided within 24 to 48 hours of receiving the specimen in our lab.
• State-of-the-Art Lab Equipment
  
  Our histotechnologists utilize Leica's XL multistainer and automatic coverslipper.
  We also operate Ventana's Benchmark XT Immunoperoxidase stainer and employ many antibodies commonly used in dermatopathology practice. Our Microm Cyrostat is used to perform frozen sections when an immediate diagnosis is required by a surgeon operating at one of the regional surgery centers.
• Special Staining
  
  Histochemical and immunoperoxidase staining are both done in our facility. This allows diagnosis of your patient's poorly differentiated spindle cell tumors, lymphoproliferative disorders and other hard-to-diagnose lesions to be rendered in 2 to 3 days instead of 1 to 2 weeks. Many of the standard histochemical stains used in the practice of dermatopathology, including those employed to identify pathogenic micro-organisms, are available in our laboratory.

  NDI has contracted with QUEST Labs to offer direct immunoflourescence testing for bullous disorders, connective tissue diseases and other disorders where DIF may be a valuable adjunct in arriving at a conclusive diagnosis. Michel's transport media will be supplied by our laboratory for these specimens.

• Free Laboratory Supplies
  We supply 20ml or 60ml, pre-labeled specimen containers filled with 10% buffered formalin, ziplock specimen transport bags and user-friendly specimen request slips. Requisition slips are preprinted with your basic demographic information to assist your office staff in processing a specimen. Lock boxes are provided to your office for specimen pickup after hours.
• Straightforward Pathology Reports
  Our reports are easy to read with the most pertinent information highlighted for your convenience. They are typically faxed when complete and a hard copy is delivered with the courier during the next scheduled pickup at your office.
• Report Delivery Options
  We offer our referring physicians the option of receiving their reports via fax, delivery by courier or both.
• Daily Courier Service
  We offer daily courier service to much of Lackawanna, Luzerne and Monroe counties. Our fleet of vehicles are driven by experienced couriers who are equipped with company cell phones so they can offer prompt and reliable pickups. They are expected to be courteous and professional at all times and not to interfere with the duties of your office personnel.
• State Wide Service Area
  Our lab and physicians are licensed in the state of Pennsylvania allowing us to process specimens from anywhere in the state. We've had great success with FedEx in transporting specimens from outside of our courier service area.
• Free Shipping Supplies
  For referring physicians outside of our regular courier routes, overnight delivery is available via FedEx at our expense. We will provide free shipping containers and pre-printed overnight shipping air bills. The process is designed to be easy and avoid placing additional work on your staff.
