Our Staff

Frances Walters Practice Manager	Frances Walters is a Northeastern Pennsylvania native and a member of the founding staff at NDI. She earned her BS in Operations Management from Penn State University and has over twenty years of business management experience. Prior to joining Northeast Dermatopathology Institute, Ms. Walters applied her business management skills to a number of local businesses in a variety of industries, including healthcare. Her responsibilities include contract and fee negotiations, management of office staff and administration and auditing of our medical billing system. We rely on Ms. Walters to assist in all aspects of our facility.

Darlene Monahan Director of Histotechnology	Darlene Monahan is a member of the founding staff at NDI. Darlene holds a BS in Biology from Syracuse University and has over 25 years of clinical and hospital laboratory experience. Darlene is responsible for the management of the laboratory staff as well as purchasing and in-house equipment maintenance. She is known for her positive personality and attention to detail. NDI is honored to benefit from her expertise and experience.

Dawn Larkin Histotechnology Associate	Dawn Larkin joined Northeast Dermatopathology Institute in October 2005. Dawn earned a BS in Medical Technology from Marywood College. Her education includes a one-year internship at the Scranton Medical Technology Consortium. Dawn has over 16 years of experience in the field including special training on the Ventana Benchmark XT/LT used at NDI for immunohistochemistry special stains. Dawn is known for her positive personality and high energy.

Karen Jeffers Transcriptionist	Karen Jeffers is a Northeastern Pennsylvania native and a member of the founding staff at NDI. She has over 5 years of medical transcription experience. Karen is our lead transcriptionist and coder and oversees our transcription and data entry staff. She works closely with staff members from our referring physician offices to ensure our pathology reports are accurate and delivered in a timely fashion. Karen's strong work ethic and attention to detail have earned her the admiration and respect of everyone at NDI.

Maria Szymanski Medical Billing Specialist	Maria Szymanski is also a member of the founding staff at NDI. Maria works closely with our transcription and data entry staff to ensure prompt and accurate patient and insurance billing. Our goal is to provide quick resolution to our patient's insurance claims. In keeping with the lab's mission, Maria is committed to delivering excellent customer service.

Brian Benginia Transportation Manager	Brian Benginia, a member of our NDI founding staff, is responsible for the dispatch and coordination of our courier staff. He works closely with the staff at our referring physician offices to insure the prompt pickup of patient specimens and delivery of pathology reports. NDI is proud to have Brian as a member of our staff.

Mary Grace McAndrew	Mary Grace McAndrew joined our staff in August 2007. She is a graduate of Marywood College where she earned a B.S. in Business Administration. Before joining NDI, Mary Grace worked in an administrative capacity in a medical laboratory settting for over 20 years. She is responsible for a wide variety of tasks ranging from medical billing to administration. Her many years of experience make her a valuable asset to the practice.

Jackie Kerekes	Jackie Kerekes joined NDI in February 2007 as a transcriptionist. She holds an associate degree in business management and has worked in the health care industry for over 15 years, primarily in dermatology. In addition to transcription, Jackie is also responsible for medical billing coding.
